How Much Do I Need?
- This varies between 3"–12" depth
- For most residential projects, a 4" depth is recommended
- For most day care centers, a 5"–6" depth is recommended
- For most commercial projects, a 6"–12" depth is recommended
- Unlike some other products, the "coverage spread" of Safety Play is excellent, and goes further than one might expect.

Formula:
10 feet by 10 feet times a depth of 6 inches equals 600 square feet. Take this times 2.75 which equals 1650 pounds. Divide by 100 square feet which equals 16.5 pounds per square foot times .26 cents a pound equals $3.96 per square foot. This formula is for 100 square feet at a 6 inch depth. It can be done the same way for any inch.
Playground and Obstacle-Course Use
Recommended Depth: 4" to 6" depending on Equipment Fall Height. Playgrounds can be dangerous places. In fact, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) stated that "protective surfacing for playgrounds is the most critical safety factor because approximately 75% of children's injuries are caused by falls." Safety Play provides that soft landing pad for kids. In fact, it exceeds CPSC guidelines for safety and resiliency. Maintenance is also easy. It can be leveled with a common yard rake, and washed by simply hosing it off. It drains so well that even after a hard rain it is usually ready for play in less than 30 minutes!
Horse Arena Rubber Mulch: Installation
- Prepare base with 4 to 6 inches of crushed stone and compact well to the hardness of asphalt. Mix each inch of rubber mulch with 1½ to 2 inches of sand that meets the ASTM standard C-33
- Or install base of 2 to 3 inches of ¼ inch limestone aggregate and cover with 1½ to 2 inches of rubber mulch

Mats—These go under the rubber nuggets at key locations, such as the end of a slide or under a swing. Mats are 5/8 inch thick and made of durable rubber. Safety Play's small nuggets allow air to circulate, eliminating dry rot and extending the life of the product
